In Demand: The Philippines as a Global Provider of Skilled Labor

Just as Jollibee is famous the world over for its crispy-licious and juicy-licious Chickenjoy®, the Philippines is renowned for its incredible labor force, particularly in industries such as healthcare, seafaring, domestic work, and call centers. Filipino workers are held in high regard for their exceptional work ethic, devotion, and top-notch education and training. Walang katulad kahit saan.

The healthcare sector is a prime example of the Philippines' labor prowess, where Filipino nurses are considered to be the crème de la crème (much different from crema de fruta) of the nursing profession. They are widely recognized for their compassion, expertise, and unwavering commitment to providing quality care to patients. In fact, the Philippine Nurses Association of America (PNAA) and the POEA estimates that there are over 400,000 Filipino nurses working across the globe, with a significant portion of them based in the United States.

The seafaring industry is another sector that heavily relies on Filipino labor. The Philippines is nicknamed the "manpower capital of the world," contributing to more than a quarter of the world's 1.5 million seafarers. Magaling tayo magtiis and sumunod sa pinapagawa sa atin, so it’s not surprising that Filipino workers are known for their robust work ethic, adaptability, and capacity to excel under pressure, making us the perfect fit for this industry.

In the realm of domestic work naman, Filipino domestic helpers are highly sought after, particularly in the Middle East and Asia. Their hardworking nature, dependability, and cultural sensitivity make them the preferred choice for many households. Di magpapahuli ang mga Ate and Kuya natin na DH sa ibang bansa. Ibang level din kasi mag alaga ang Pinoy so it’s not surprising na yan ang hinahanap ng mga foreigner.

The call center industry is yet another testament to the Philippines' labor force. Filipinos are well-known for their fluency in English and excellent communication skills, making them the perfect fit for companies looking to outsource their customer service operations. In fact we overtook India as the ‘Call Center Capital in the World’ back in 2015.

Filipinos are a valuable asset to the global workforce. Their unwavering dedication, exceptional work ethic, and unrivaled skills make them in high demand across various industries, cementing their reputation as professionals and workers that are truly world-class.
